MAKE THE TOOL WORK FOR YOU

How to use practice planner

The Practice Planner turns the time you have available into a focused piano practice session. Choose a total length between 5 and 60 minutes, then pick a focus: chords, scales, or listening. The tool builds a plan of four tasks whose whole-minute allocations add up to your total, so you can see exactly how your time will be spent before you sit down at the keyboard.

  1. Set your available time using a value between 5 and 60 minutes.
  2. Choose a focus: chord, scale, or listening, to shape the kind of work included in the plan.
  3. Press Build my session, then review the four tasks and their minute allocations. Changing a setting alone does not rebuild the plan.
  4. As you finish each task, check it off, then download a text copy of the plan or print it, or save it as a PDF using your browser.

Try this example

For a 30-minute scale session, the plan allocates 6 minutes to mapping the pattern, 12 to slow guided practice, 6 to hearing small steps, and 6 to making a phrase. Check off each task and download the text plan if you want a copy that includes your completion marks.

Keep in mind

The Practice Planner is a generic session template rather than a personalized curriculum or a graded assessment. Completion is self-reported, and plans are not saved to an account, so you will need to download or print any plan you want to keep.
