MAKE THE TOOL WORK FOR YOU

How to use interval construction on the staff

An interval has two measurements: its generic number counts letter positions, and its quality gives the semitone distance. Keeping both measurements matters. An augmented fourth and diminished fifth can sound alike on a piano but have different written endpoints. This workspace asks for an ascending interval above a named lower note. Place both notes and use the accidental control to adjust the upper note without changing its letter. The check requires the exact octave and spelling.

Try a concrete example

A major third above C4 is E4: three inclusive letter names C–D–E and four semitones. A minor third uses Eb4, while D#4 is a different written interval.

Make a small practice task

Say the generic number before touching an accidental. Compare a major and minor third above the same root on paper.

Read the result carefully

Uses equal temperament and explicit written pitches. No account, teacher identity verification, secure exam proctoring or guarantee of learning. Local records and result receipts are editable by the device owner.

Work with the controls

  1. Choose treble or bass clef and written-note range
  2. Choose 1–50 questions and chord types
  3. Answer once, inspect the spelled-note explanation, then continue
  4. Keep optional local progress and XP
  5. Copy a repeatable configuration link; export a self-reported completion receipt

Use a short, repeatable task. Configuration links preserve the visible parameters and start a fresh session rather than sharing private scores. In an exercise, submit one first answer, inspect the revealed spelling and choose Next question. A completed set offers a self-reported receipt. Diagram exports and achievement summaries have their own controls above; they do not evaluate an acoustic performance.
