How to use note transposer
The Note Transposer helps you move a short musical phrase up or down to a different register or key. Enter a sequence of note names, choose how many semitones to shift them, and hear the result. It is a simple way to practise a passage in another key or check how a melody sits in a new range.
- Type between 1 and 16 note names separated by spaces, such as C4 Eb4 G4. If you leave out the octave number, the tool uses octave 4.
- Choose a shift from -12 to +12 semitones. Negative values move the phrase down and positive values move it up.
- Select whether the output should use sharp or flat names, so the transposed notes are spelled the way you prefer to read them.
- Press Transpose, then Hear result to listen to the output. Download Result MIDI if you want to keep the transposed sequence or open it in another program.
Try this example
Entering C4 E4 G4 with a shift of +2 gives D4 F#4 A4 when sharp names are selected, or D4 Gb4 A4 with flat names.
Keep in mind
The tool transposes individual pitches only. It does not process audio recordings, chord symbols or sheet music, and its output uses the chosen chromatic spelling rather than key-aware notation. Notes outside the piano range of A0 to C8 cannot be produced.
